 · Normal I do not right reviews, however am surprised at the lack of durability based on the over all customers reviews of this product. We did this project in August. Within 60 days small areas of low use had become “soft” then peeled off. Other areas I could scratch through easily with my fingernail.

 · Because previous reviews mentioned eventual wearing away of the sealer that comes with the kit, we opted instead for envirotex epoxy resin, which dried hard as glass and should be much more durable than what comes with the kit, not to mention gives it a smooth glow that you just can’t get with the included poly.

Apparently this product is somewhat difficult to apply, as the little beads of color it contains have to be literally pressed out flat using a short nap adhesive roller. Emily | My So Called DIY Blog Emily redid her kitchen countertops about 3 years ago, using a Giani Granite Paint Kit (in Bombay Black). “I referenced Gail’s tutorial from My Repurposed Life a lot as well as the DVD from the kit. I used the primer and then layered different colors from the kit using a sea sponge. I sanded in between layers and sealed with the protective coat in kit.

 · As tedious as it is, the prep work is the most important part of the whole process. So do a good job now, and avoid a lot of headaches later. Giani Granite does not require sanding, and after all the sanding I had to do during my kitchen cabinet transformation, I was thrilled.  · I haven't tried it but I've been researching this subject preparing for my own re-do on some 70's countertops and I am loving the reviews and pictures of the Giani countertop paint kits. They are amazing and it's apparently super easy and darn near impossible to mess up. That's important to me being a first timer!
