I enjoyed reading this book. First of all it was a quick read, it provided information in context in a very succinct manner. The information is mostly about creating routines that you can apply to your particular situation, whether it's devising a morning plan or how to implement curriculum. I found it to be useful, and I'm glad to have it as an additional resource.
I love the authors sense of realness. The advice offered is practical and not some crazy system that seems unreachable.
Like her podcast episodes, blog posts & purchasable stuff all in one free little spot. Not bad. I’ll come back to it each year as a refresher, I’m sure.
This book could not have popped into my life at a better time. We have been stuck in a rut for some time now and this book just gave me the inspiration we needed to spice up our homeschooling. I would recommend that all parents take the time to read this. So full of resources and great advice.
Thank you for compiling your basic tips for a smooth running homeschool into one resource. I have encouraged many of Pam's suggestions into my homeschool to make it a more joyful experience for all involved. I love the extra reading links at the end of each section to dig in deeper and will share this book with other homeschoolers getting started or needing help.
Short and to the point. This is a great resource! It will be a good refresher every year.
Really enjoyed this book. It felt like a nice warm cup of tea.I love when an author can just get to the point and can simplify otherwise complex ideas.
This book dives right in with great suggestions. Very level-headed with practical ways to apply to your own homeschooling rhythm. Some of these ideas are completely new to me and appealing! I’ll be implementing some of these tips. Thank you!
This book is a quick read but loaded with great advice for any homeschool mom. I loved this book lots.
Reading this was a lot like sitting down and having coffee with a friend. I loved the conversational tone and the good advice. I would recommend this book for any new homeschooler as well as for any homeschool mom who has found herself struggling and burned out.
This book was very encouraging and helped calm my fears. I had never heard the term “tidal schooling” but it helped give words to our family’s style of schooling and helped me to not feel so alone. Would highly recommend this book to new and veteran homeschoolers alike!
Shorter than I'd expected but right to the point and I found some very useful information inside! Overall happy with my purchase!
I love a book that has no twaddle. This short book provides some excellent hit-the-ground running ideas you can put to use tomorrow morning.
I will be reading this jewel again and again. We also sing the Doxology in the morning. I long for more peace, focusing on what's important and staying true to my long term goals for our homeschool. Pam helps you find your true North and gives practicalTips on how to stay on your chosen path. One of the hardest obstacles for me is being a product of public school and a classroom teacher before babies. Reading her writings is like talking to a mentor homeschool mom over coffee. Thanks Pam!
New to the world of homeschooling, I found this short book packed with valuable tips and resources to put my new journey on solid footing. Highly recommend to all my fellow newbies to homeschooling.
Practical things to use in my new homeschool! Like talking with an old friend who has great ideas! Loved it!
I loved it so much I listened to it twice back to back and will definitely listen to it again. Pam Barnhill is always wonderful & this book is no exception.
Although none of the information was new to me as I've been homeschooling for many years, I found it helpful to have it laid out in an organized fashion with links to additional sources.
A wonderful, encouraging guide to creating a homeschool that fits your family. So many good tools and ideas in this book!
This brief but oh so helpful ebook is packed with great information to help you throughout your homeschool day and other additional resource links that I'm excited to explore. Thanks Pam for helping to make my homeschool run more smoothly!
Love this homeschooling book! It is packed with ideas for families new at homeschooling and families who are experienced homeschoolers. Topics include morning time, goals, types of scheduling, and much more. Homeschooling that has lost its luster can be fun again. I would definitely recommend this book.
Great advice from someone who seems like the kind of confident yet humble momma with whom I'd love to have coffee and real conversation. Practical. Simple. Gentle.
This book addresses several struggles homeschooling parents face. The author presents encouraging ideas but she doesn't push her way down your throat.
Full of easy to use information for all ranges of homeschoolers. Loads of ideas on organizing and thought provoking questions to make HS run smoother .
Practical advice and useful tips! I look forward to sitting down and putting some of her ideas into practice in our home.
Clear, direct advice for improving the overall culture of your homeschool. Perhaps not new information, but helpful in that it is all in one place and not weighed down with excess information.
I've been following Pam Barnhill for a while now. I like her printable planning pack for scheduling the homeschool year and I started listening to her podcast last fall, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I like her writing too.I've been wanting to read this since it was released, but I never quite got to it. Today my husband took our kids on a field trip so I actually have uninterrupted time to read! I finished in about the time it took me to eat lunch. I'm going through again to check out some of the links and do some of the writing exercises. It's clear, direct and simple to complete. When you finish, you're likely to be more confident in your role as teacher.
I will be officially begin our homeschooling adventure this year and this entire book will definitely be followed as methods to get us on the right path!
This short book (more of a booklet, really) contains advice every homeschooling mom needs to avoid common pitfalls and get the most out of the school day.
Pam is so encouraging & informative in this rebook. I loved it very much! Can't wait for another by her.
This book was a good, easy read. I read it in about an hour with interruptions. Great information for a new homeschooling mom. Great reminders for a vet. I love all things Pam Barnhill.
Love this. This is packed with excellent information to help streamline the day to day tasks of homeschooling. Highly recommend.
I plan to apply these simple methods to my homeschool day ASAP. They sound practical and I can see how they will simplify my day. Having the school day operate on auto-pilot when I am fatigued or overwhelmed sounds great! 5 stars for humor, honesty and practical application. Nothing suggested is too difficult to accompish. I have newfound hope! This is a quick, "must read' for all homeschool mothers who have ever felt like they are failing. It came to me just at the right time!
This is a great resource for people just starting off in homeschool or four families who have hit a rut. I can't wait to apply these to our day and help our school run even more efficient and happy!
Great ideas for for both new homeschoolers and seasoned home educators. Written by the host of Your Morning Basket podcast.
This book is soooo helpful. I've been homeschooling for 28 years, and I wish I'd been able to read this before I started! Still, better late than never. ;)
Another wonderful resource from Pam. She has a gift for being able to boil things down to the nitty-gritty, clear off the cobwebs, and get down to the business of teaching your children at home. Don't miss this gem!
A wonderful book that helps homeschooling parents focus on what is important and let go of what is not.
It is not often that one finds a homeschool resource that is inspirational but not guilt inducing and practical without adding a million things to the already unrealistic "must do" list. "The Confident Homeschooler" is one of these little gems! Full of insightful advice that is easy to implement, this resource will absolutely change your homeschool for the better. Pam Barnhill is a wise mentor who takes you by the hand and gently guides you to a more peaceful homeschool day.
This resource is invaluable for tackling all the little details of homeschool that no one seems to discuss. Pam clearly explains different scheduling approaches, along with their pros and cons, as well as ways to encourage independence from the kids to help the sanity of the homeschool parent. It's brief, to the point, and full of insightful tidbits. Well worth the time if you're looking to fine tune your homeschool environment.
Lots of great information packed in here. Just might help you make that simple change that can transform your day and your homeschool!
I really enjoyed this book. We have home-schooled for 2 years now, but I found value in Mrs. Barnhill's suggestions. I would definitely recommend this for anyone considering homeschooling, starting out, and even those who've been at the game for a while.
The Confident Homeschooler really provides some great ideas on homeschooling. We are going into our third year and I am in the planning stages of homeschool, there is some great information about structure of morning time and utilization of spiral notebooks for my kids. A must read for anyone new to homeschool and those who have been doing it for a while but need some fresh ideas.
Great, practical, do-able tips from a seasoned homeschool mom. Love her point of view and down to earth writing!
Sometimes, the short, concise little nugget of information is what you need when you're feeling unsure. This is exactly that: A brief and practical pick-me-up for homeschool parents. Secular families: rest assured. This one is safe.
Love the quick readability of this book and it leaves you feeling ready for the day. Homeschooling is a hard journey but if you are looking for practical ideas to help you as the mom find sanity and flow read it. What i love about author is she is real, has similar struggles and shares what works for her! It's nice not to feel alone and get practical advice for those areas you need most.
A wonderful resource for newbies or veterans of homeschooling. Pam has a way of putting into words what we experience as homeschooling moms (or dads) but never tell anyone out loud. It's so easy to get caught up in wanting to be the perfect homeschooling family. The reality is that there is no such thing as the perfect homeschooler, who uses a perfect curriculum during a perfect homeschooling day. We will all fail and fumble along the ways, and that's ok. Even if we've have been homeschooling for many years, we sometimes subconsciously put a lot of unnecessary pressure on ourselves and the kids to "perform" at the highest level not realizing our relationship with them may be suffering. This book shows us that it doesn't have to be that way. It's full of tips, wisdom, and "real talk" for making the homeschooling experience great for the kids and for us moms. I loved it and highly recommend it to anyone looking for encouragement. B.T.W. check out her website on edsnapshots.com. It's awesome!!!
Pam Barnhill has a knack for sharing important ideas in a clear and concise way. She understands the day-to-day struggles of homeschooling. This book is not fluff. It's a quick read, but it gets to the heart of the things that can make a difference between homeschooling chaos and homeschooling peace.
Short read but just what I needed to bring focus back to my homeschool days. If you are feeling burnt out...READ this! Pam is such an inspiration and has breathed life into our homeschool since I found her blog and Podcasts.
I loved this little book snack. It reminded me of all the ways to be successful as a HS mom that relieves stress! Pam Barnhill is so relatable and full of wisdom. I have been following her for a while & planning for our next school year isn't complete without heading to her site for help with organization & lots of encouragement. This book had both!!!
This is an easy read and such an awesome handy little book ! I know I'll be reading it often, as a reminder because I seem to fall back into some of the same traps :/
Excellent, short (who has time to read a massive manifesto these days??!?) and oh so helpful! Pam has a knack for tackling those "little foxes" that often ruin our homeschool day. I've loved her "Plan Your Year" product and this one is just as fabulous. If you have the opportunity, get the audio version (available on her website). It is SO fun hearing her read the text. If you're only able to get on format however, get the kindle version, as she has such good ideas it's great to have them all written down somewhere for future reference.
Pam has done it again. If you haven't read 'Your Morning Basket', stop what you are doing and go to Edsnapshots.com and get it. Pam's writing is very encouraging and practical. This small book is big on great ideas. Are you burnt out, tired? Even if you have been HSing for many years like I have...you will be inspired and get new ideas. I can't wait for more from Pam.
A short read that will have helpful tips and encouragement for any homeschooler. Pam writes with a flow that makes it sound like she is right here having a coffee with me and cheering me on this homeschool journey. She points out where we may be getting off track and how to get back on all with a gentle tone. Thoroughly recommend this book.
This little ebook is just the right sized for busy homeschoolers- short but sweet! Full of good ideas, helpful hints and encouragement. I appreciate hearing whatever Pam has to say; her experience as a school teacher is a great blessing to our and many other homeschooling families!
My only complaint is I NEED MORE!!! This short book is filled with wonderful ideas and important reminders for those of us braving this journey of homeschooling. I have followed Pam Barnhill and her advice and suggestions for morning time and vision worksheets for a little over a year and my homeschool is thriving. She has now offered a few more practical suggestions to make our homeschooling day more family-friendly and productive ad I am anxious to get these suggestions into our daily routine. Thanks again for another wonderful resource and striving to be a more confident homeschooling mom!
Pam is a refreshing voice in the often-overwhelming world of homeschooling. Her book provides encouragement and clear step by step advice for anyone needing direction or clarity as they educate their children at home. This is the second book of Pam's I have read (along with dozens of articles, blog posts, and podcasts) and her advice is always spot on.
I have appreciated find Pam Barnhill and her writing! I first sought her out because of her Morning Time information. She has given me so much confidence that I'm doing the right things in the morning. My days are going better because of being intentional about what she has taught me. In this book, she talks about decision fatigue. She is so right and I'm thankful she pinpointed the problem. I've been able to realize deciding what snacks and lunches would be "on the fly" what wearing on me. We now have 5 lunches and have the same ones each week. The kids and I don't mind and it's nice to have this area simplified! This book will help you, as will her podcasts and other eBooks!
A helpful little book for homeschool moms. I love the freedom it gives you to make the ideas and your homeschool your own.
'The Confident Homeschooler' is the perfect size for a busy homeschooling mama, you can read it an hour; but it is power-packed despite its diminuitive size. The first chapter alone arrested my attention! Tip # 1: 'Don't Work Harder Than Your Kids'. I realized after reading through the chapter that I *was* working harder than my kids and that it had to stop because I was quickly approaching burnout phase. Pam's simple suggestion to use a solid, straightforward curriculum for the foundational subjects (like math, language arts, etc.) freed me from the self-induced guilt about not tailor-making each lesson plan for my children. She even pointed out that now I am not overworking myself, I am going to have more time for the fun stuff that brings joy to homeschooling. Each tip she offers has practically applicable suggestion to go along with it. I especially enjoyed all the various blog links she puts at the end of each chapter.Pam Barnhill really has a heart to help homeschooling mamas become more efficient and effective. Her book 'The Confident Homeschooler' dishes out hope to struggling homeschool mamas that we can THRIVE in our homeschools rather than just survive.
Succinct and helpful, the ideas in this book will help one step over potholes, determine priorities, and maintain focus. Pam Barnhill has provided us with specific methods, which are simple to integrate for both the long and short term. Definitely worth a read!
As always, she is entertaining while laying out the truth. Willing to admit her flaws and then how she finds victory, she gives us practical ways to do this thing well!
Pam Barnhill always cuts to the chase and provides down to earth real life help. Reading her books and blog is always a balm to my hurried and frazzled self. Definitely recommended.
Excellent information. As a eight year homeschool survivor- we are about to venture out of the limits of a co-op. This has reminded me of why our family has chosen this road and that we really are capable (in spite of the naysayers) of educating our children well.
Pam Barnhill's short and sweet book is full of practical advice that you can put to use right away. I especially liked the advice to write a protocol for subjects or books that don't have a written curriculum plan already. I'm going to write some of my own protocols for the books we are reading in our morning time so I can stay on track and help the kids know what to expect every day.
I think this book has something for everyone. Even though I've been listening to Pam's podcast and reading her blog for awhile, I still found this a valuable resource to tie everything together. If you're getting burned out with homeschool on a daily or weekly basis, check out this quick and helpful read!
As a new homeschooled, I really appreciated this handy little resource. I've already fallen victim to many of the pitfalls, but I was at a loss of how to get out of them. I'm starting to plan for next year and this is helping me keep myself in a great frame of mind. The practical tips are ones that I can implement immediately and with confidence!
I've been homeschooling for 9 years, and still found some very helpful tidbits in this little book! Highly recommended! :)
I appreciated all the nuggets of wisdom Pam shared here. No matter where you are in your homeschool journey, there is something here for you. Pam's conversational style is such a welcome. You won't regret grabbing this.
Pam Barnhill puts together easy, practical steps for improving and organizing your homeschooling. This E-book is so handy, thank you so much Pam for taking the time to painstakingly anticipate what I needed most.
Excellent book. I loved every bit
The best advice I've ever received from older homeschool moms is all in this short and straightforward gem. No matter what your style or what your reason for homeschooling, The Confident Homeschooler will give you the tried-and-true basics we all need to be and do our best in the day-to-day.
Such an amazing little book. We have been homeschooling for 5 years now and I am so guilty of many of the things mentioned that cause our day to get off track. I am so thankful she has compiled this resouce for sanity. I've already implemented a few of the ideas already (will defiantly be adding more) and have seen and felt a change in our home and attitudes.
This is a chock-full of good stuff, short read for any homeschooler regardless of the place in your journey that you are on. I immediately made one change to my homeschooling day before I even finished it! Pam consistently provides quality help to homeschooling parents. You won't be disappointed in this purchase.
This book is full of practical, everyday wisdom. I love it!
This book was a practical and very encouraging for anyone in the homeschool journey.
In this brief book, Pam Barnhill provides the tools to "have school" or "start the school day" on those overwhelming, busy days (especially on, ahem! Mondays!) Pam's conversational approach to providing instructions takes the intimidation out of "lesson planning", making it much easier to reach for those charts and lists and get going. I value all of Pam's homeschool tools, but this one is a must-read for implementing those lovely ideas and plans she helps me write out!
