Minimal House Decor

Who does not want their house to be picture perfect? I do. Most people are leaning towards minimalist designs because the less it is, the better it looks. More stuff is hard to organize elegantly, especially if you have less space. Easier to clean, rearrange and move, minimalist is the new norm.

Shelves

Wooden, plastic, or metal; shelves are an integrated part of your house. I feel that shelves should match your other furniture; if you have wooden panels or walls with such texture, then shelves should also have the same color-coding texture. Only have shelf size as much as your requirement, neither too big nor too small.

Built-in furniture

This could be a better idea if you have a clear picture of how you want your home to look like. Built-in units cost less than purchasing everything in single units for a permanent home. Having made it yourself, you can have any design and texture you want, which you may not get in the market or at the store, but you will not have the luxury to move it again.

In-door plant

In-door plants are my favorite hint of liveliness in a house with minimal effort. In-door plants make the environment fresh, increase oxygen content in the house, and take very little care in exchange. They can make a boring piece of furniture or simple stool to pop out elegantly.

Scandinavian style

White walls and doorless windows inspire Scandinavian-style homes to let the full light come to the house. They use natural surfaces and organic fibers, tone, light woods, weathered concrete, wool, and linen, etc., to make it more comfy and natural. Though it could be costly for some, you can use artificial also if you like this style.

Shapes and lines

Abstract shapes and lines can make your simple furniture pop out. It looks elegant, classy, minimal, and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. You can use them in paintings, clay models, fabric, or certain patterns.

Low or on the ground furniture

Heavy, bulky, and high furniture can cover more space than needed. Unless it is an ancient piece or symbol of some deep belief, stick to the small and lower to the ground furniture, even bed. It gives a comfy and welcoming vibe.

Monochromes

Monochromes are highly popular in minimalistic designs. One-color décor with different shades for different purpose give you classic look which never goes out of date or trend.

Pop of colors

When you are playing with monochrome, you can use little pop of colors. Like a painting full of colors, or a light blue pillow on your grey sofa can be a drastic change and lively feel without making it look like a Hodgepodge.

Dynamic art

Since minimalistic style does not give you a lot of room to place with design and colors, you can use 3D designs with colors to make it shine. Along with that 3D Art piece, 3D painting or illusion artwork also works wonders in a living room. Something that catches the eye of most people and still manages to look elegant.

Windchimes

The wind chime is not just a decorative piece; they are also a symbol of peace and goodness in many civilizations. They are also considered a tool of meditation and keeps good vibes going on. I find it soothing, especially one with very little and breezy sound.

Mix of styles

The minimalist designs and monochrome colors are versatile. You can easily mix it with other styles like Industrial, Bohemian, etc. They blend in with other styles and colors easily. Even if you are an artist, you can go monochrome and still keep your style along with it.

3 to 1 combination

If you are a person who does not like plain monochrome but wants it to be minimalistic, you can have 3 walls with one light tone and one with some dark color, different texture, or some artwork to your taste.

Portables and convertibles

With growing technology and modern tools, there are thousands of portable accessories and convertible tools. For example, you can use a sofa cum bed, Stool cum chair, small equipment, etc. help you to save space and place look less cluttered and more elegant.

Floating shelves

Floating shelves are also an elegant piece to add to your décor. You can choose if you want straight panels or some shape like octagon or hexagons or maybe in the form of wooden stairs on the wall. I have included two of them in my room, and they come in quite handy. But be aware of how much weight you put on those shelves.

Conclusion

There are tonnes of minimalistic ideas online now because apart from a professional at the office, common people also love that style. Your whole house need not be minimalist or monochromatic; you can change your style in different corners of the house. One style in the living room, the other one in Kid’s room and something else for kitchen or your bedroom. The above list tells you where to start if you want to know How to Decorate Your House as A Minimalist
